Dear Santa/Giftmaker letters
Dear Santa/Giftmaker letters are a great way to elaborate on your requests and the sorts of things you enjoy or that you'd prefer not to see in the giftwork made for you. However, posting letters is totally optional; likewise, DSSS participants are not obligated by the optional details of their recipients' letters.
Notes on Letters:
• If you included an empty placeholder link in your DSSS signup, you'll need to go back and edit that post.
• If you've forgotten what you requested, you can refer to your signup at this link or by clicking "My Signups" on your AO3 profile page.
• We have a great many offers from artists, vidders, and podficcers this year, so take into account the non-story formats you included in your requests when writing your letter!
• Holiday or Christmas-themed giftworks are NOT required and may be unwelcome, given that DSSS is an international and multicultural exchange. If you have a preference concerning December holidays, you should mention that in your letter so your Giftmaker will know.
Need some ideas for how to write a Dear Santa/Giftmaker letter? Check out the "santa letters" tag to see how others have done them in the past.
DSSS Reminders:
• This is a SEEKRIT exchange! Keep everything you're doing seekrit until Reveal Day, Jan. 1st!
• Your assignments are SEEKRIT until Reveal, so refrain from openly discussing your assignments or identifying your recipient.
• Under NO circumstances should you contact your recipient directly. If you have questions about your assignment (no matter how weird!), bring them to your friendly-neighborhood mods at dsss.admin@gmail.com. We'll happily relay questions to your recipient; we can even be sneaky and frame things so they're less likely guess what they're getting. *g*
• Optional Details Are Optional, at least as far as prompts go. We do ask that you respect your recipient's notes concerning things they do not want to receive. We appreciate your kindness.
Once you write your letter, paste or link it in the comments below! Make sure any linked posts are PUBLIC, since your Santa may not be on your access list. If your journal is friends-only, paste your letter below. (Asking your Santa to friend your flocked journal undermines their Seekrit Identity and ruins the fun. Don't ruin the fun! *g*)
Okay! When you're ready, please comment below with your letter or link! YAY DSSS! \o/

miz's letter
If this looks at all familiar, it's because I use pretty much the same letter every year. Apparently, when it comes to dS fic, I'm pretty much set in my ways :)
Here's some things that apply to any of my requests: I love first time stories, established relationship fic, slice of life, kidfic, crackfic, AU (shocking, I know) - it's all good. I love snark, and banter, and sweet fluff. I would like there to be NO explicit sex. Flirting, definitely good. Kissing with intent, a little foreplay, scenes that fade to black before the sex, also great. Romance, due South style - perfect. Just no specifics, please. :)
I am okay with a bit of angst and UST, but much prefer a happy ending (or at least nothing tragic and heartbreaking). Please no major character death or serious kink. I love nods to canon, and cameos or other character/episode references.
FKV - Oh, how I love them together. If you're writing a pairing and turning it into the threesome, I tend to see it either being FK or KV first. But again, established relationship fic is just as wonderful. I can see them up North or in Chicago. I think smart Kowalski is sexy as hell, and Fraser a little rough-and-tumble (think him on the flagpole in BDtH) is just gorgeous. I have a thing for Vecchio's cross, and love him uttering a well-placed Stanley.
KV (and really, it's a three-way tie as to which fic I'd want the most) - pretty much all the above applies here too. I think for them snark = love. Seeing them with the Vecchio clan could be fun, as would seeing Vecchio at a family dinner with Kowalski's folks.
Frannie/Elaine - I wrote a piece with them last year, and fell hard for the two of them together. I'd love to see your take on their relationship!

Thanks, mods!
Sorry for the late posting -- I've been away from keyboard since assignments went out...
I like a pretty wide range of things -- anywhere on the angst-to-fluff spectrum (though angst-with-a-happy-ending tends to be my sweet spot); het, slash, or gen. I like thinky or plotty porn, but am less into porn for porn's sake, and am perfectly happy with fade-to-black sex or stories that don't have to do with sex at all. I like humor, but I tend to go for verbal/witty humor rather than crack/slapstick/goofiness. I like stories with at least some plot in them, but I mean that in the sense of conflict-and-resolution -- relationship stories can have plot just as much as casefic can.
I like visual art, too, but I'm a lot less good at articulating what I like, partly because my own imagination is extremely verbal, so it's hard for me to think of what the possibilities are (one thing I like about other people's visual art is it almost all comes under the heading of "wow, I would never have thought of that!" for me :) ).

Now, on to the actual request details:
#1
I have Vid Envy and would love for someone to make me a vid because I can't make one of my own. :)
There's all sorts of things I would love in a vid: romance, friendship, ensemble, dark/angst, humor -- I'd particularly like a vid that looks at some unusual aspect of the story, e.g. a piece focusing on female characters, a piece that tells a story that takes place outside canon-time (constructed narrative), a piece that focuses on secondary characters. Or a piece that's somewhat more abstract/philosophical, e.g. about how other people see Fraser, or about the connections he's formed with all sorts of random people, or about his moral choices... A goofy piece would be fun, too. (If you're ambitious and like C6D crossovers, I'm overly fond of dopplegangers.) Really, I'll probably like just about anything. :)
Feel free to ignore the "Fraser" part of the prompt if you're more inspired to vid about other character(s) -- I had to specify some character so I picked the least restrictive option, but I'd be perfectly happy with a vid focused on non-Fraser characters/relationships, too.
My musical taste runs to acoustic folk/singer-songwriter/folk-rock, show tunes, nerd rock -- I like melody and good lyrics. I particularly like vids that play clever games with lyric/image juxtapositions.
If you would like song/prompt ideas, or just a more specific indicator of my taste than I've been able to articulate in these notes, I've been keeping a list of vids-I-wish-I-could-make at http://archiveofourown.org/works/503054.

Since the matching is by hand and on only one of the list of main characters, I'm going to treat it as an OR list here: I would love something about any one of the secondary/one-off female characters I've listed here. Or more than one of them! But all 5 would be hard to imagine. :)
Including other female characters would be great, too, especially the more obscure ones. Could include lead/male characters as well, or could be a story/artwork focused on the lives of the secondary characters when they're not interacting with the DS protagonists. If icons are your thing, I’d love icons of any or all of Thatcher, Stella and Maggie (here, too, including other female DS characters would be cool – how about Crazy Mountie Boat Lady or Nautilus? Women Of Due South icon set! :) )
#3
This is my super-easy request to balance out the two niche ones, but that doesn’t mean I care less about it. :) I enjoy RayK in pretty much any form. See general notes above.

Here (http://temetnosce.dreamwidth.org/1501.html) is my letter, which makes less sense now without context, but /jazzhands!
