Dear Santa/Giftmaker letters are a great way to elaborate on your requests and the sorts of things you enjoy or that you'd prefer not to see in the giftwork made for you. However, posting letters is totally optional; likewise, DSSS participants are not obliged by the optional details of their recipients' letters.

Notes on Letters:
• Please include your AO3 USERNAME so your giftmaker knows which letter is yours!.
• If you included an empty placeholder link in your DSSS signup, you'll need to go back and edit that post.
• If you didn't inlcude a link in your Request on AO3, you won't be able to add one now, but you can still post a letter and comment here with link or text, so your giftmaker can find it.
• If you've forgotten what you requested, you can refer to your signup at this link or by clicking "My Signups" on your AO3 profile page.
• Remember to take into account the non-story formats you included in your requests when writing your letter, in case you were matched with one of our artists, vidders or podficcers!
• Holiday or Christmas-themed giftworks are NOT required and may be unwelcome, given that DSSS is an international and multicultural exchange. If you have a preference concerning December holidays, you should mention that in your letter so your Giftmaker will know.

Dear Santa/Giftmaker letters let recipients expand on their requests -- both what they enjoy, and what they’d rather avoid/what squicks them.

That said, remember Dear Santa letters are totally optional.

That also means that dSSS gift-makers are not required to fulfill optional requests from their recipients' Dear Santa letters.

(They should of course respect the requested exclusions/squicks in the recipient’s AO3 dSSS signup.)

If you listed ART anywhere among your requests: the various art offers for DSSS 2010 include drawings, illustrations, wallpapers, cover art for stories, icon sets, banners, etc. Some of our artists specialize in portraits, comics, or illustrating scenes; some draw by hand, others do digital art. You could be assigned to ANY artist, so when you write your letter, please consider sharing some format and content options that your potential artist could work with.

My Dear Santa letter appears HERE. (Finally. There were RL circumstances,

bluebrocade. Please forgive me.)

My LJ is still f-locked, however, anyone who's doing DSSS is obviously 1) a fan and b) of age, and those are my only requirements for friending anyone who wants to be friended. So if I haven't added you yet, feel free to come and ask, and I'll do it.

Last year I tried to friend everyone who's a member of this comm, but I don't even remember how far I got. It's possible I got distracted and wandered off halfway through.*facepalms* If I missed you and you really care to read my Chanukah wish list or just want to see the fic and art on my LJ (new art coming soon), come leave a note on the sticky post at the top.

I'm not tracking the Dear Santa post. I also do not shake packages under the ~~tree~~ menorah. :)
