We have 26 days until our December 15th deadline! That's not pull-your-hair-out panic-time yet, but it's definitely heading into getting-down-to-business territory. How is everybody doing? Are there finished drafts out there yet? Is everybody remembering to take advantage of this year's Awesome Beta Force? Betas can help you brainstorm yourself out of a rut, pinpoint that sentence or timestamp where your plot went off the rails and make suggestions to help you get it back where it needs to be. Do not make me make a Use-The-Beta-Force joke here, you guys! Just head on over and check them out. And if you're looking for some more general anti-procrastination inspiration, you might also be interested in checking out
yuletide_nudge. Its founders (who aren't me!) meant it to be for people who are participating in Yuletide, obviously, and the countdown applies to that challenge, but there are daily posts with writerly advice and encouragement, so dSSS participants might find it helpful, too.
Another thing to keep in mind: because of the changes we've made to the posting process, dSSS cannot offer posting extensions to anybody this year. You must post your completed artwork, story or vid to the archive by 11:59 P.M. Chicago time on December 15th; if you don't, I'll have to hand your prompts to a pinch-hitter. The upside is that once you post, you can continue to make last-minute edits and corrections right up until the archive goes live on December 24th.
And finally, we've already had one brave pinch-hitter volunteer -- is there anyone else who'd be up for taking on a last-minute assignment or two? You'd have at least 9 days to work on your prompts, if not more. Artists, vidders and writers are all welcome to volunteer. If you're interested, please email dsss.admin at gmail dot com.
