Characterization Discussion #1

mergatrude posted a great Recs post, inviting everyone to comment with memorable passages from your favorite DS fic. That post will stay open forever, so please do check it out and add to it when you get a chance!
Today, we're going to start off a little series of characterization posts with Fraser, Ray Vecchio, and Ray Kowalski. We'll move onto the show's other characters in future posts.
Okay, I'm going to start by talking about some things I love about all three of these guys. You can do the same, or you can use this space to puzzle out motivations or personality quirks, or you can just squee about how much you loved it when Fraser filled the apartment with candlelight for Victoria because it was like a giant shiny metaphor for tragic hope. Or you can say, "I don't understand why on earth Fraser did __________ in _________ (episode)! Someone please explain this to me!!" Or you can say, "Living in your office, Fraser? REALLY??"
I've also written up some discussion questions in the event that they're helpful to you. If they're not, feel free to ignore them, but if they are, then go for it! You can also link to other posts on characterization, as there's been LOTS of great DS meta over the years. I've drawn all the links below fromds_recs, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. More links are very welcome!

We welcome all respectful discussion, including that about characters' foibles and flaws, as long as it's framed as meta and not bashing. Character bashing makes me cry, so avoid it please, and remember to keep what you're making for DSSS a Seekrit!
Okay, now it's your turn! Let's talk character! In THIS post, we're focusing strictly on Fraser, Ray Vecchio, and Ray Kowalski. Feel free to mention their relationships with other people, but try to keep the spotlight on these three points of view.
