Dear Betas and Cheerleaders!
Welcome and thank you for helping our participants in DSSS 2012! To sign up to either cheerlead or beta, please comment below with the following information:
I will cheerlead! YAYAYAY!!
1. Fic, art, vid?
2. Any favorite DS characters or genres you're particularly enthusiastic about.
3. Things outside your comfort zone (epic tragedy, kidfic, kink, etc.).
4. How to reach you directly so the DSSS participant can protect his/her anonymity.
I can volunteer to beta! \o/
1. Fic, art, vid?
2. The content you can beta (characters, pairings, areas of special knowledge: i.e., Northern Canada, Chicago, RCMP, wolves, kids, particular kinks, etc.).
3. The kinds of betas you can do: line edit, plot beta, spelling and grammar only, story edit, proportion/scale/color beta, clip or throughline beta, etc.
4. Things outside your comfort zone (non/dub-con, horror, kidfic, particular kinks, deathfic, etc.).
5. How to reach you directly so the DSSS participant can protect his/her anonymity.
Attention Participants!
We hope you all are brimming with ideas and know just what you want to write/make art/vid! If not, that's okay. There's a lot of time yet, but deadlines have a habit of sneaking up out of nowhere and we want you to have all the support you need to create the best DSSS giftwork you can. Please make use of cheerleaders and betas to help keep your creative process going in the right direction.
Remember that we expect all fic, art, and vids to be beta'd and to reflect DSSS's standards (including length/effort requirements) for well-crafted giftworks. You must post one giftwork that meets these requirements, and then if you finish early you're welcome to create additional gifts for your recipient. If your giftwork is below-expectation upon posting, then we will ask you to revise it and/or call in a pinch hitter on your behalf. Please be sure to leave enough time between beta and deadline to fully edit your work! These are GIFT-works, after all, and we want everyone to receive something awesome.
As always, what you're making and who you're making it for must remain ANONYMOUS until Reveal. DO NOT ask your recipient to be your beta or cheerleader! It would be best for DSSS participants not to be beta readers, but if it's necessary, we expect you to maintain complete secrecy about any assignments confided in you.
Special note! If you need help finding a qualified beta & none of the offers in the comments below fits the bill, email the mods at dsss.admin at gmail.com and we will be happy to post an anonymized beta request on your behalf!
If you have any questions, please ask!
Our Calendar:
All Works are DUE: Tuesday, December 18, 11:59pm Chicago time.
Gifts Go Live: Monday 24 Dec 2012, late in the evening.
