Date: 2010-12-26 12:52 am (UTC)Sparkling lines, great humour, and an OFC (from an off-screen canon character) who works really well. Hot hot fic, with a lot of emotion underneath the sex
lovely slow build, a tentativeness between Fraser and Ray that I just adored, and then the author blindsided me with some seriously smoking sex
Amazing Ray K voice, a sleepy Fraser, and I loved the way the author brings out an aspect of Ray in his introspections that is rather novel
and which is stuffed with amazing details: the socks! Turtle's dream balloon! the patterns on the stockings! Ray's bracelet!! Really, it's hard to stop at three :)

Date: 2010-12-27 08:15 am (UTC)Out Of Nowhere (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139130) (F/K/V):
I loved that it was long and complex and really took it's time to build the R/R relationshp; and that it was gently kinky and utterly in character.
Spring Thaw (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139180) (F/K)
I loved the rhythm of the interchanging points of view, the gentle shift to Ray as the leader in their relationship and Fraser as the follower, and the sense of a future unfolding.
Sui Generis (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139882): (F/K)
For its awesome RayK and Fraser voices, for the snapshot of a moment a long time into their time together - oh, and Fraser quoting Buffy :) :)
and one more bit of art:
One Gentle Kiss (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139162) (F/K):
which has awesome stylisation, a tender moment, and lovely warm colours.

Date: 2010-12-29 07:22 am (UTC)In a Strange Land (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139894) (F/K):
A Galaxy Quest crossover, omg! (and if you haven't seen Galaxy Quest it's worth doing just to read this fic, plus, it's brilliant); Fraser with a tentacle, Dief as an alien matchmaker - no really. There's nowhere this fic can go wrong.
Illinois Run (http://archiveofourown.org/works/140034) (Frannie/Welsh):
Frannie in character and competent at the same time! Turnbull the soft-hearted romantic! Welsh, computer genius! so unexpected, and so much fun.
Take the Moment Present as a Present for the Moment (http://archiveofourown.org/works/139182) (F/K/V):
I loved the slow passage north, the easy intimacy between Fraser and Ray and Ray, and the way their knowledge of each other shines through every line.
and of course:
Pas de Deux (http://archiveofourown.org/works/140137) One (F/K)
Two beautiful men in beautiful pencils, in love with one another - who could resist? And the detail and original sketch are lovely to stare at, too.

Just finished: Two Roads Diverged (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/dSSS_2010/works/143421)
Three things I liked about it: This happy yet poignant glimpse of Ben and Mark's friendship! The first ( tasted like malt and hops and a remembered sweetness that was Mark alone) and last (putting a period to their childhood and perhaps their friendship and there would be no going back) kisses! Mark reminding Ben he's not his father!
Just finished: Detective Raymond Vecchio's Protection by the Consulate of the Great Nation of Canada: An Illustrated Report by Constable Renfield Turnbull (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/dSSS_2010/works/139893)
Three things I liked about it: THAT TITLE! (fear not, sir; I Lysoled)! Turnbull's sheer enthusiasm, matched only by his cluelessness! The artwork!

Things I liked about it: Ray being his own weirdness magnet. The amazing Ray voice (Fraser was his best friend and Ray had never once in his life learned how not to be in love with his best friend). Ray and Fraser in his office...hot and heartbreaking.
Just finished: In a Strange Land (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/dSSS_2010/works/139894)
Things I liked about it: Alien!Fraser and Alien!Dief, from "Canada" and their boss playing the role of Dead!Bob. How the author takes parts of DS canon ("I came to Chicago..," Dead!Bob. The Tongue. Dief's deafness) and fits them into their undercover operation, from the cover story to maintaining their "disguise." Alien!Dief going native. The sheer crackiness.
Just finished: All Directions are South, All Signs Point to Yes (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/dSSS_2010/works/139928)
Things I liked about it: George taking Fraser's side on going up to Grise Ford. The mix of old (Innusiq's carving) and new (Magic 8 Ball). Fraser's hunger to hear the Inuit stories, because those stories are a part of the Fraser we see.
Will post more later, when AO3 is less Error 502.
Rec post #3

Just finished: Home for the Holidays (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/dSSS_2010/works/140038)
Things I liked about it: The structure of the story, with the progression of letters and ending with the phone call. The warmth and awkwardness of the holiday dinner at the Vecchios. RayV giving then his blessing, of sorts. The seriously hot sex that starts with that bad, messy and wonderful kiss.

Date: 2010-12-26 10:44 pm (UTC)Already finished "I Was About to Change (But You Stayed the Same)", which is awesome: Fraser/Kowalski/Frannie, wistful, sweet, and hot!
And "Zugunruhe" (the migratory urge in animals, is the translation, I understand. The author is obviously European, and I'm guessing maybe German. :) Didn't know they had a single word for the migratory thing!) Anyway it is awesome. TURTLE. Turtle is awesome!!!
And "Home for the Holidays" which is TERRIFIC and sweet and engrossing! --and was written for me! Scared!Ray and Terrified!Fraser and Post-CoTW angsty wonderfulness, plus all the Vecchios & Stella being their wonderful selves (and a really nice bit of Ray Vecchio characterization). And Chicago! :) Could not be more delightful.
Still reading: "Nice Day for a Sulk," which is delightful.
That was more than three things, but...sorry. I gotta either do this my way, off the cuff, or I gotta refrain from posting at all, and I miss you guys so much that the second option would just be sad. Plus, the authors deserve the insta-recs!
Good luck calling up AO3! I'm sprinkling some virtual fairy dust over it so the Due South gang can get our pages to load. :)
